SOFT SUMMER Calorie-free The Artist & Piece of work YALI Glass director Marie-Rose Kahane has a unique groundwork in the globe of drinking glass afterwards working previously as a costume designer for the theatre. When she moved to Venice she started making Murano drinking glass for her family unit and friends, which she had been interested in since she was a child. Inspired past her environment, her designs, which focus on functional glassware for everyday lifestyle, are simple and discreet, yet elegant. The Murano glassblowers bring her designs to life. Her modern designs are created using the about traditional methods.

From Marie-Rose Kahane "Designing is always linked to what I feel. At this time of this item twelvemonth, I am longing for harmony and light. This exhibition is to celebrate a new beginning – soft colors and lightweight glasses – to celebrate glorious summer afterward a long winter. I dream of fields with wildflowers swaying in the soft summer breeze. Nature has always been my guide. Seasons give us a sense of continuity and tranquillity. With the warmer days starting, we enjoy lovely cool drinks and sharing small, delicious cold dishes. YALI Glass is fresh to the middle, light in your manus and soft confronting the lips. VITREA: - Contemporary ITALIAN ART GLASS

Triennale Milano, Italian republic, May 5 - August 22, 2021

Curated by Jean Blanchaert.

A option of over lx original works in drinking glass created by 36 artists, artisan/artists and designers, from Italy and abroad, who have a deep and ofttimes passionate human relationship with Italian glass.

The works presented are an expression of the multiple forms that drinking glass can assume, of the not bad imagination of the artists and designers and of the extraordinary mastery of the artisans: differing from one another in technique, aesthetics and part, they reflect the wide variety of gimmicky creativity in the handling of the textile, from sculpture to lighting, from figurative works to stained glass.

An creative vision and a transmission know-how to be preserved and promoted so that the arts and crafts volition nonetheless be able to speak the language of the contemporary globe.

Yali Glass, embodying all the magic of the Venetian crafts, celebrates the love of this city through the design of unique products destined to get icons of a timeless style. In 2020, Marie Rose Kahane, the founder of Yali, decided to experiment, with the aid of master glassworkers, with the technique of casting that makes it possible to create solid and resistant forms by pouring molten glass into a mould. Out of these experiments has come up the distinctive drinking glass top for the side tables in the Isola series, in tones ranging from greyness to transparent dark-green. Their forms are rounded and sinuous, a homage to the landscape of the Venetian lagoon, in which the islets, shorelines and channels create basins of h2o of irregular shape. But the lagoon is not the only inspiration. The outlines of the transparent surface recall the thick slabs of ice of the Engadine, another of Marie Rose Kahane's favourite places. 'The practical arts have interested me for many years: article of furniture, ceramics, metalworking, textiles. But my particular passion for glass commenced at the moment I discovered Paolo Venini and his radical influence, when he asked important architects like Scarpa to design pieces in drinking glass. The combination of bang-up design and unique craft skills has fabricated the cloth of glass highly attractive'. (Condé Nast, Traveler, novembre 2020).

ALMA ZEVI GALLERY - SALOTTO

Venice, ITALY, November 23, 2020 - January 21, 2021

GROUP EXHIBITION with RADE PETRASEVIC  / CHARLAP HYMAN & HERRERO / ROBERTO MATTA  / YALI

The SALOTTO ('Sitting Room') is an invitation from ALMA ZEVI to look, explore, and take a seat in the gallery. Reverberating with Rade Petrasevic'south bright oil paintings, the visitor's journey through the space is moulded around the supine forms of Roberto Matta's iconic Malitte suite of lounge seating, an original example from 1966. These curved forms resonate into the wavy outlines of Yali's drinking glass tables, made in the Veneto in 2019. Meanwhile, our eyes are caught by the ribbed surfaces of Charlap Hyman & Herrero's (CHH) oversized 'shell lamps', presented in Italy for the first time.

SALOTTO , ane enters a world of distinctive silhouettes and graphic lines that are both fluid and free. These lines extend from the furniture and into Petrasevic's paintings through his depictions of curling smoke, sensual plants and rippled bodies. The thought of nature infuses the evidence: the tables are titled ISOLA ('Island'), referring to the myriad of islands in the Venetian lagoon; whilst CHH's shells invoke a phenomenon of nature, and leafage is depicted in almost all of Petrasevic'due south paintings.

In SALOTTO, quintessential 1960s interior design collides with contemporary young artists and designers. In that location are clear connections between past, present and future in the exhibition. While Petrasevic and CHH are looking forrad within their private practices, their respective visions incorporate moments from the by. Petrasevic cites painters such as Leon Golub and Philip Guston, while CHH's lamps connect to the 18th Century fashion for Grottos. In improver, Yali presents a timeless aesthetic that bridges between Modernist article of furniture and emerging fine art and design. By rethinking the ancient arts and crafts of Venetian drinking glass and organic forms to produce unique pieces, Yali challenges the divisions between sculpture, furniture, fine art and object.

BENEDETTO MARCELLO CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC

Venice, ITALY, December 2020

In December 2020 a Christmas tree measuring almost six metres was erected in the foyer of Venice'southward Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Music. Normally the tree would be adorned with the conservatory'southward own collection of decorations, notwithstanding they had been destroyed in the devastating high water the previous twelvemonth. Rather than purchasing new decorations, the conservatory had decided to allocate their available funds to the restoration of other valuable items also damaged during the loftier water. The Christmas tree was non destined to remain unadorned notwithstanding. Over xx Venetian artists, business organization and artisans, including YALI Drinking glass, came to the rescue by providing a vast assortment of beautiful handcrafted objects to hang on the tree.

Interior designer Matteo Corvino was the projection's artistic co-ordinator.

Conversation PIECE: Blueprint IS Expressionless

New York, The states, Nov 2019

A projection by Charlap Hyman & Herrero, Chiarastella Cattana, Giorgio Mastinu, Green River Project, Yali.

109 Thompson Street, New York, NY, 10012 November viii - sixteen, 11:00 - six:30 daily

Chat Piece: Blueprint is Expressionless is an exhibition of original designs past Chiarastella Cattana, Yali and Charlap Hyman & Herrero with Greenish River Project in response to historical works by Italian modernist Enzo Mari, shown here by Giorgio Mastinu.

Enzo Mari's groundbreaking vision for and writings on the nature of design, play, education, arts and crafts and utility informs a artistic dialogue betwixt these contemporary designers, architects and curators that began in Venice, where, with the exception of CHH and GRP, they are based. This show presents the output of their distinct practices alongside both iconic and rare artefacts of Mari's philosophical inquest spanning the 1960's and 70's.

In most every lecture he gave, Mari made the radical - if not tongue in cheek - declaration "Pattern is Expressionless," urging his audience to claiming the cult of functionalism and find new formal languages with which to stir the mind and nourish the soul. Exploring the enigma of wonder, Mari constructed for us a complex yet tender landscape of materials, sense of humour, wit, and practicality that is very much live.

Chiarastella Cattana is a cloth designer whose piece of work directly engages with the genesis of weaving, pushing old traditions in new directions, and focusing on patterns and fabric structures. In this collection the intersection of the warp and the weft is emphasized by her strict geometric designs which play with scale and repetition. Its product combines mechanised weaving with digital techniques.

Yali (Marie-Rose Kahane) makes unique objects in ceramic, woods, metal and drinking glass blown by hand in Murano. She shows here new tables, vessels, and trays in shapes that draw inspiration from the irregular and imperfect volumes of inland bodies of water.

Charlap Hyman & Herrero (CHH) is a NY/LA based blueprint and architecture business firm considering all aspects of the built environment, from site plan to article of furniture. They have designed the exhibition, and are showing their harbinger rugs and new plastic lighting made in collaboration with Green River Projection.

Green River Project (GRP) designs and builds furniture, interiors and sculptural objects in New York City. Through their inquiry-based approach, they construct unique narratives within their collections and installations. For this exhibition they have collaborated with CHH on a serial of plastic lighting.

Giorgio Mastinu is a leading expert in Italian Post-War and Modernist art and design, and has an eponymous gallery in Venice. He is presenting a carefully researched group of historically meaning works by Enzo Mari, many of which have never been shown in the United states.

Charlap Hyman & Herrero, Chiarastella Cattana, Giorgio Mastinu, Green River Project and Yali accept been featured in: Forbes, Wall Street Journal, FT, Le Monde, Architectural Digest, Elle, Elle Décor, Faddy, GQ, PINUP, World of Interiors, T Magazine, the New York Times, Art Forum, Wallpaper, Tatler, House & Garden, Harper's Bazaar, The Cut, Art in America, New York Magazine, Garage Magazine, Condé Nast Traveler, Surface.

THE WATER Cycle AND LIFE CYCLE ARE I
il ciclo di vita e il ciclo dell'acqua sono uno

Curated by Miche and Flora of Touchstones, LIFE OF WATER is a ane-twenty-four hours encounter in honour of h2o and the City of Venice. In collaboration with glass-makers, farmers, chefs, activist-researchers and winemakers we offer a sense of taste of the artisan through water, table salt and soil.

As part of our research residency in Venice, nosotros encountered people who are passionate about the city's diverse cultures of artisan living, and who are campaigning to protect the delicate ecology of Venice, its hinterland of food gardens and the wider salt marshes of the lagoon.

As 'amici d'acqua' caring for the life of water, we are all working in ways that respect the essential interconnections betwixt nature and culture. Through convivial and contemplative rituals, LIFE OF WATER is a tribute to the artful, spiritual and political dimensions of ecological living.

CALVIN KLEIN

New York, USA, 2018

A partnership between Calvin Klein and YALI Glass nether the creative direction of Raf Simons.

The drove, designed in YALI'southward studio in Venice, Italian republic and handblown on the island of Murano was inspired by the utilitarian spirit of CALVIN KLEIN home. Marrying ageless technique with modern sensibility, glasses, plates, bowls and carafes are hand-blown in two time-honored styles. The Incalmo technique, which takes three people and no less than thirty minutes per piece, allows for the creation of contrasting and playful color combinations. Ii paw-blown hemispheres of the aforementioned size but different color are joined together for a bold nevertheless understated look in 2-toned red/smoke and cobalt/smoke. The Carlo style is a modern take on traditional Venetian pattern and creates hexagonal glassware with strong, clean lines. The plates in this collection obtain their shape through centrifugal force, where the maestro rotates the glass so quickly it takes a disk like shape. Each piece in the CALVIN KLEIN ten YALI collection is handcrafted. Every piece is unique and slightly dissimilar; a quality appreciated in the drinking glass world and by CALVIN KLEIN home – where preserving the art of arts and crafts is a main focus.
